Meet the Team

Anne C. Johnson, Sr. Clinical Trainer

Anne (she/her) is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who received her master’s degree from the University of Minnesota. Prior to her work with Canopy, Anne spent more than 5 years working at an adolescent day treatment program for Headway Emotional Health. Throughout her tenure at Headway, she served as Day Treatment Therapist, Treatment Coordinator, and Program Supervisor. In spring of 2021, Anne was hired as an adjunct faculty member for the School of Social Work at the University of Minnesota-Duluth where she taught “Anti-oppressive Social Work Practice.”

From 2008–2016, Anne was employed at MN ADOPT where she offered support to adoptive, foster, and kinship parents and the professionals who care for them. During her time at MN ADOPT, Anne served as Adoption Specialist, Training Coordinator, and Program Manager. Prior to her work in social and human services, Anne was a motivational speaker, as well as an educational supervisor and national trainer in southern California. Anne brings 18+ years of professional experience managing and coaching teams to successful outcomes. She is a board-approved social work supervisor and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

Anne is excited to be a part of the Canopy team where her personal and professional values align. Being able to create programs and offer services that emphasize cultural responsiveness and multiculturalism allows her to focus on individual and community needs, especially for BIPOC and other marginalized populations.

Anne loves being with friends and family, especially her two nieces and her nephew, as well as her large group of adult cousins. She also enjoys the theater, being near water with a good book, eating sushi, and exploring Minnesota’s state parks.
